Gwern-Hwyaid is a traditional 16th Century Radnorshire Farmhouse, full of character with cruck frame trusses, beamed ceiling and inglenook fireplace in our large friendly kitchen. We offer two bedrooms, a double and a choice of either a second double or twin, all sharing a private guest bathroom. All rooms recently refurbished.
Just 15 minutes from Hay-on-Wye, Builth Wells, Brecon and the Brecon Beacons National Park, surrounded by the rolling Radnorshire countryside, with views towards Hay Bluff and The Begwyns. Excellent base for the annual Hay Festival in May.
Tea and coffee facilities available in all the rooms and guests are welcome to use our comfortable lounge, or enjoy the garden. The price includes continental breakfast in our farmhouse kitchen, choose from a selection of cereals, croissants, fresh fruit, yoghurts, cheeses, meats, toast, fruit juice, tea & fresh coffee.
Guests have exclusive use of their room during their stay. The family sized bathroom is shared between the guests and has a bath with an over the bath shower.
We offer accommodation for up to four people at a time, with a choice of a double room and a further double or twin room, which can be booked separately or together.
Guests may use the garden and in good weather may choose to have breakfast outside. We have many birds and other wildlife visit the garden and we are surrounded by fields with livestock. Excellent walking direct from the house.
Just 1½ miles from the Wye Valley Walk long distance footpath and National Cycle Network Route 8 Lôn Las Cymru Cardiff to Holyhead, at Boughrood, we can provide you with overnight accommodation and can also offer a luggage transfer service, pick-up and return at the end and beginning of the day, and evening meal as an extra service.
We will be only too pleased to help make your stay special. As a Brecon Beacons National Park Ambassador we can help you with advice on what to see and do in the area. We can recommend pubs, restaurants and good walks. We are often available for a chat or are happy to leave you in peace, if that’s what you prefer.
Due to the age of the house some of the floors are a little uneven and with steps, the stairs to the bedrooms on the first floor could be found to be a little steep by some. All part of the character.
